Winter finally arrived on the Costa del Sol last week.

After a period of mild weather, temperatures plummeted and snow fell on some of the higher ground. If you drive from Puerto Banus to Malaga, you will see a dusting of snow on the Serrania de Ronda and La Cruz Juanar. The emblematic peak of La Concha that protects the properties in Marbella from the harsh northerly winds has not yet surrendered to the snowfall, but perhaps it won´t be spared for much longer.

Anyone thinking of venturing across country through the mountainous area of the Sierra Nevada outside Granada needs to beware during the winter months.

As someone who splits his time equally between the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca, the direct route through Granada, although a tedious 4 ½ hours drive, usually offers superb views and a mild climate. However, as soon as winter begins, you really need to be careful and to plan your journey in advance.

Marbella launches new Audi Q5

Spain often plays host to new product testing for major car manufacturers. In fact, on the winding road that leads from the city of Granada to the nearby Sierra Nevada ski resort, it´s a common sight to see disguised prototypes being tested to their full potential.

In Marbella for the last 4 weeks, we have seen something altogether different – not so much a disguised model being put through its paces prior to launch – more like a brand new, all-singing, all-dancing launch from one of the world´s premium car makers.
