Can´t give too much away at the moment, as I am due to sign contracts on Monday, but the new place is old, a typically Spanish property and in one of Marbella´s best locations. I´ll reveal all very soon.

Even now, I reckon that if I´d had a little more time, and the cash buyer hadn´t been on the scene, I could have found a bank to provide a Spanish mortgage on that property in Marbella. For the cash buyer, the risk was all his – no banks to consider. And let´s face it, even in the worst case scenario where the new owner may have been asked to pay a fine as a result of any adverse ruling by the town hall in Marbella, the fact that he secured the property at such a great price was probably enough to persuade him that it was worth the small risk.

To be honest, it´s also been a pretty dismal winter here in Southern Spain, certainly the worst that I can recall since I bought my property in Marbella 8 years ago. The local Spanish people cannot believe it – they are always complaining about the cold and damp conditions. Certainly not very Mediettanean!
So I guess we must all be enduring a cold ´snap´ across Europe in general.
Although the UK seems unable to cope with ice and snow, it is certainly able to cope with the cold. In fact it does it very well. Each time I go to the UK during the winter months, I have the luxury of sitting in warm, cosy homes with radiators and carpets. Oh, the joys of central heating!
