The end of the hot summer season on the Costa del Sol brought further misery in the form of another destructive forest fire, this time a devastating blaze that destroyed acres of land to the north-east of La Quinta Golf & Country Club, one of the premier golf resorts on the Costa del Sol, and just a 10 minute drive from Puerto Banus.

Strangely, the blaze on 16th September came on a day when temperatures had cooled and most residents were packing away the sun loungers in readiness for the autumn. Although the cause of the fire is unknown, the blaze was fanned by strong gusty winds in the area.

It was recently announced that one of Marbella´s 2 existing marinas will be expanded to ensure that the town can welcome major cruise liners in the near future.

This will obviously allow Marbella and its surrounding areas to take full advantage of the lucrative cruise market, and could lead to a radical upshift in fortunes and public perception for the town.

Already, Malaga is one of the Mediterranean´s most popular cruise liner destinations.



The most common type of enquiry we receive at the moment goes something like this:

“I want to buy a villa in Marbella, but I want it to be priced around 40% - 50% under the valuation”

Let´s look at this request a little more closely.

Firstly, most vendors of Spanish property have reduced their asking prices considerably from the advertised prices of recent months. So it´s fairly typical to come across villas for sale in Marbella, reduced from previous asking prices by around 30% - 40%, with a discount of 50% sometimes available if the vendor is really desperate to sell.
