I am now the proud owner of a 3 bed townhouse on Lomas del Marbella Club Pueblo, located on the Golden Mile between Marbella and Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol.
I had been trying to find a property that offered a little character and charm, yet without sacrificing the location. Of course, I also wanted a great deal.

Most people know of the influence and presence of the Saudi Royal Family on the Costa del Sol. Much of the land around the Golden Mile in Marbella is Saudi-owned, and indeed the spectacular Nahda Palace built by King Fahd resembles Washington´s White House.
Interestingly, the Saudi Royals have just signed a deal to develop a 60 hectare plot of land in the Arroyo del Saladillo area of Estepona, Marbella´s neighbouring district. The family have owned this land since 1978, and had initially planned to build their palace on the site. Now they have decided to develop the land, with plans to build 1,400 residential units and a top class golf course, with work scheduled to commence next year.

Marbella has this week been hosting The Andalucia Tennis Experience, a women´s tennis tournament that attracted 2 of the world´s best players – Jelena Jankovic and much to everyone´s amazement, the world´s best player, Serena Williams.
Luckily blessed with great sunny weather, Marbella has never looked better, and the venue for the tournament, the Puente Romano Hotel tennis club on the famous Golden Mile, looked in fine fettle.
Of course, everyone expected the tournament´s final to feature the 2 top seeds Jankovic and Williams on Easter Sunday, but the tournament´s plans (and indeed its appeal) was blown apart after events on Tuesday evening on the clay surface of centre court.

After much recent coverage of The Polo House, James Hewitt´s new venture in the Spanish and UK media, I took a trip to see what all the fuss was about on Saturday night.
Hewitt, the former lover of Diana the Princess of Wales and often considered a bit of a rascal, has just opened a lavish restaurant/bar on Marbella´s famous Golden Mile. The venue is beautifully decorated and furnished, in keeping with its polo theme – lots of polished wood and subtle reminders that you could be in a gentleman´s club in Knightsbridge.
