weather costa del sol The recent torrential rain that we have seen here on the Costa del Sol at least provided some small shred of comfort for local residents.
The region´s reservoirs have doubled in capacity in the last few weeks, with December´s rainfall alone guaranteeing water for the next 2 years here in Andalucia – yes, it rained THAT much! Continue reading »

spanish properties for sale The profile of the typical Spanish property buyer has shifted markedly in the last 5 years.
During the boom years, buyers were snapping up anything they could, with demand for Spanish properties outstripping supply, meaning that most buyers contented themselves with buying off-plan and waiting for completion………..just happy to be part of the investment bandwagon. One of the most in-demand regions a few years ago was the Costa Calida, located in the south-eastern corner of Spain, and home to the well-known Polaris World golf resorts. At the time, buyers felt that consolidated areas such as the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca had reached their peak, and that better investment returns could be achieved by buying into a lesser-known area with big plans. golden mile properties
villas golden mile marbella Most people know of the influence and presence of the Saudi Royal Family on the Costa del Sol. Much of the land around the Golden Mile in Marbella is Saudi-owned, and indeed the spectacular Nahda Palace built by King Fahd resembles Washington´s White House.
Interestingly, the Saudi Royals have just signed a deal to develop a 60 hectare plot of land in the Arroyo del Saladillo area of Estepona, Marbella´s neighbouring district. The family have owned this land since 1978, and had initially planned to build their palace on the site. Now they have decided to develop the land, with plans to build 1,400 residential units and a top class golf course, with work scheduled to commence next year.

puerto banus property for sale
puerto banus rentals I know I´m focusing a lot of recent articles on pricing here in Spain, but as it seems to be one of the hot topics of discussion, I´ll throw in another thought.
In the UK, when it comes to retail outlets, there seems to be a terrific choice. For instance, if you take the clothing retail sector, you have the choice of the high-end designer shops, the budget sector with shops such as Primark and Matalan, and a huge variety of high street chains and independents offering mid-range pricing. Obviously this range of choice actually drives a huge amount of competition and discounting, meaning that the customer is virtually guaranteed to stumble across a bargain or two as he/she ventures along the high street. rent in marbella
rio real property I´ve been renting a property on the Costa del Sol for the last 6 months, having sold my lovely apartment in Rio Real in the 2nd half of 2008. Bearing in mind that I sold my place as the recession started to take hold, I was pretty chuffed that I managed to get the full asking price at the time, albeit I had to include all the furniture as part of the deal. The Spanish buyer had looked at over 40 properties in Marbella, and apparently fell in love with my place and didn´t want to change a thing.
So here we are in April 2009, we are at (or close to) the bottom of the Spanish property market, there are bargains galore, I have cash in the bank, I´m fed up of living in someone else´s apartment, so I´m ready…….ready to invest again in Spain.
