properties in spain for sale
spanish property for sale Within Spanish property urbanisations, the issue of security is undoubtedly the single biggest bone of contention. Some owners of properties in Spain will be fully in favour of a 24 hour security service, perceiving it to be a valuable benefit for residents´ peace of mind and the reputation of the development, others will only see the benefit of a nightime service, while others will be completely set against having any type of security service whatsoever.
The problem for many owners of Spanish properties is the cost. Think about it. Having 24 hour security effectively means that the owners will be paying the annual salaries of 3 security guards from their community fees.

staging a property in spain Here´s the scenario.
You have a lovely home in Britain (or wherever) and you have a holiday home in Spain which you tend to use a few times a year. But now we have a recession on our hands, you are losing interest in the Spanish property and really could actually do without it.
So, you put the Spanish property on the market at what you consider to be an attractive price to sell, but despite plenty of interest and viewings, it´s still unsold. The recession seems to be biting even harder, and you can barely afford to keep your own home, never mind the second home in Spain that you really should never have even bothered about!

Although the master bedroom was (in the tenants´ opinion) inhabitable, the landlord was supposedly within his rights to take reasonable time and reasonable measures to correct the problem. In the end, my friends became so disheartened sleeping in a damp bed each night that they cut their losses and ended their tenancy prematurely, waving goodbye to 3 weeks rental money (around 800 euros) that they had already paid up-front and that the landlord was reluctant to reimburse. spanish property for sale I know I´ve been on my soapbox before about this, but some (no, in fact I would say THE MAJORITY of) Spanish property owners need to face some home truths.
Their properties are not worth what they think they are, and some of them look a mess. There you are, I´ve said it.
As someone who is in the business of selling property in Spain, I am amazed at how many properties I see that simply don´t tick the boxes. How can I be expected to sell a property to a client if I cannot get remotely excited about it myself? Continue reading »
