Hordes of Spaniards Flock to the Costa del Sol    Tourists Flock to the Costa del Sol Despite Recession

The Costa del Sol has seen its highest sea-water temperatures for 25 years during August, according to the Spanish Oceanography Institute.

Normally the average temperature of the water in August is 20.7 degrees centigrade, but this month the temperature of the sea water has soared to 26.5 degrees.

Apparently this huge rise in temperature has little to do with global warming, and is due to the warm Levante winds which have been heating up the sea´s surface since August 11th.

The Levante is also thought to be the cause of the suffocating night-time temperatures on the Costa del Sol, which rose to 26.4 degrees centigrade on August 7th.

On another note, it seems that the Costa del Sol authorities have literally been ´cleaning up´ their act this year. The cleanliness of the sea water has seen a vast improvement this year after the acquisition of several highly efficient cleansing boats that help to remove unsightly ´scum´ from the water´s surface.

It seems it´s now safe to enter the water!!
