The Obama Impact in Spain
                                       a

Is the inauguration of America´s 44th president likely to have any affect on the Spanish property market? As leader of the world´s largest superpower and therefore as leader of the western world, Barack Obama´s presidency is likely to have an affect on us all.

A lot is expected of Obama – he is an inspirational figure that has been elected during an economic hurricane, yet he seems to have united America, given it some much needed confidence as a nation, and humbled its people into evaluating the truly important things in life.

If he manages to raise confidence in the United States, the likelihood is that its people will become more likely to spend money and to take risks – the feelgood factor can be hugely powerful, and may help to drag the country out of recession.

If this happens, then it´s likely that the mood in other countries will also lighten and that people and businesses will move from their positions of fear into new mindsets of hope and ambition. Hopefully these same feelings of hope, confidence and ambition will start to affect prospective buyers of Spanish properties.

As one of my Spanish friends commented to me this morning - ´all we want from Obama is a little hope´.
