Freezing Temperatures in Southern Spain
                                       a

One of the great things about living here on the Costa del Sol is the mild year-round climate. However, although we have clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine today, I have to tell you that the temperature sank to just 2 degrees this morning – that´s the coldest I´ve ever known it since I´ve lived in my Marbella villa.

Things have improved a little – it´s now midday and it´s 8 degress, but that´s still VERY cold for Marbella.

I have a friend who lives in the mountain village of Ojen, and he told me that he was scraping ice from his car windscreen this morning before leaving for work!
Of course, people in the UK think we are mad to be complaining – after all, the temperature dropped to around minus 6 degrees in some parts of England last night, but you have to remember that we aren´t really set up to cope with freezing temperatures in this part of Spain – no central heating, no radiators etc.

I´m just dreading the electricity bill after having the air conditioning on all night! But I guess we´ll just have to struggle along.

This year has been a strange one for the weather in Marbella. November was also colder than usual.

However, it is all relative. The sun is shining now and I am off to play golf. When you are in the sun its fantastic!
