Telefonica – What´s the Problem?    Winter Arrives on the Costa del Sol
Easyjet Winter Schedule – not so easy anymore?

I am a great fan of Easyjet. With a property on the Costa del Sol and with friends and business interests in Liverpool, Bristol and London, I probably make 20 journeys a year with the famous no-frills airline.

In over 10 years of travelling with Easyjet, I have so far (touch wood!) never encountered a serious problem – no missing bags, no cancelled flights, and no grumpy staff!

One of the key aspects of Easyjet´s service has been its excellent timetable…..but since the publication of their latest Winter timetable, something has gone horribly wrong.I tried to book a trip to Liverpool from Malaga. The flights have been restricted to just one per day, and rather than the civilized departure time of 11.10am from Malaga, the outbound flight now departs at 20.30pm, arriving in Liverpool at 22.15pm, meaning arriving at my UK base at past midnight. Even worse, the return flight from Liverpool now departs at 06.30am – yes, that´s right, half past six in the morning! That means leaving my base in Cheshire at 03.45am to be at check-in for 04.30am – erm, no thanks!

I know that the airlines have been complaining about the price of oil forcing them to cut their services, but I thought the oil price was now at a record low. But I just cannot understand Easyjet – surely, if you are going to restrict your service to one flight a day, you should make it at a time that suits most of your passengers. Particularly on a route as profitable as Malaga, servicing thousands of Spanish property owners.

This isn´t a one-off. The same is happening to the Bristol – Malaga route, where the return flight leaves at 06.00am.

Easyjet needs to be careful. I have been a loyal traveler for over 10 years, but when I took time out to source alternative flights, I found that Ryanair are now flying into Liverpool from Malaga, and the flight times are far more tolerable.

Easyjet now charge extra fees for most aspects of their service – extra fees for speedy boarding, extra fees for baggage, extra fees for insurance, extra fees for skis…..how about an extra £10 for flying at a decent time???? I wouldn´t say no.
