I know I´ve been on my soapbox before about this, but some (no, in fact I would say THE MAJORITY of) Spanish property owners need to face some home truths.
Their properties are not worth what they think they are, and some of them look a mess. There you are, I´ve said it.
As someone who is in the business of selling property in Spain, I am amazed at how many properties I see that simply don´t tick the boxes. How can I be expected to sell a property to a client if I cannot get remotely excited about it myself?The time for excuses is past. If you want to sell your Spanish property, then it´s time to make some effort. This is a tough market, there are far fewer buyers than this time 2 years ago, and there are far more properties to choose from. Simple mathematics dictate that only the very best of these Spanish properties will be sold.
Part of the problem is price, but I honestly believe that equally important is how a property presents itself.
If it´s too much effort to get on a plane to tidy up your property in Spain, if it´s too much of a problem to give it a lick of paint, or to invest in some decorative items such as vases, cushions and lighting, if it´s too costly to hire a key-holder or a cleaner who can help to stage the property for viewings, then my advice is not to bother.
Seriously, in this market, if you are going to sell your Spanish property, you have to really want to do it, you really have to go the extra mile, and turn your property into something special…..very special.
