A good friend of mine has just bought a cheap apartment on the Costa Blanca.
The fully furnished 2 bed apartment in Cabo Roig cost him 80,000 euros. Situated in a lovely gated community within a 5 minute walk of a fabulous sandy beach, and with a supermarket and restaurants on the doorstep, the property is ideal for family holidays and/or as a rental investment.
When I chatted to my friend about his reasons for investing in a supposedly depressed Spanish property market, he told me that the cash had been lying on deposit, making 1.5% per year. With this property on the Costa Blanca, he feels that he will easily make a conservative 3% - 4% net rental income, and he will also be able to use it with his family for a few weekends each summer when the heat can become unbearable in his home city of Murcia, just 40 minutes away.
My friend also did his research. The cheapest comparable property was priced at over €120,000 so he is also hoping that he will be able to turn a little profit should he ever decide to re-sell.
Sounds like a decent investment all-round.
