Most buyers of property in Spain want to be as close as possible to the beach. I guess this is a natural consequence of years of happy holidays by the sea coupled with the grim climate and scenery of Northern Europe.
But are beach properties in Spain really all there are cracked up to be?
Of course, for those lucky enough to have a frontline beach property in Spain overlooking the sand and the sea, the views and aspect are truly outstanding. But think about your view at night – probably pitch black.
And also bear in mind the toll that the elements can inflict on a property by the beach. Think of all that sea, salt and wind that seeps into even the best-built Spanish properties. Certainly, your Spanish property on the beach will need regular external maintenance, and you may find that the property is prone to damp, so be careful not to store too many clothes in your home for an excessively lengthy period.
